The installation by Robert Schad (born in Ravensburg in 1953) was commissioned by the former Kreissparkasse Hannover to design the public interior of its headquarters. Despite the sheer volume of steel used, the work appears dynamic, almost organic. Where the neighboring installation on Aegidientorplatz (see 8) makes the wind tangible through moving elements, Schad succeeds in addressing it through static elements. Given the lightness and apparent movement of the objects, it is not surprising that Schad incorporates aspects of dance and choreography, among other things, into his media works. The work sets a framework for movement on site—a space that serves both as a passageway and the building’s tranquil center—thus emphasizing the architecture’s transparency. Despite its openness, the installation fully occupies its location, allowing no external or overall perspective, and draws the viewer into its center. The work is owned by Sparkasse Hannover. » Location: Aegidientorplatz (in the courtyard of Sparkasse Hannover)
